One thing I’ve noticed after photographing families for over 10 years is that the images parents treasure most often happen after everyone relaxes.
The first few minutes are usually spent getting those smiling-at-the-camera portraits. Those are important! Grandma will love them, and they’re great for holiday cards.
But the magic often comes afterward.
It’s when your child wants to show me their favorite twirl, tell me about their latest obsession, or race their sibling across a field. It’s when Mom stops worrying about the camera and starts interacting naturally with her children. It’s when Dad joins in on the playing.
