Newborn Photography: Common Questions Answered

While photographing many newborns in the Marietta, Roswell and greater Atlanta area for years, I have complied a list of common questions new parents have asked.

What if my toddler sibling doesn’t behave during our newborn session? This is a reasonable question- You want images all together and sibling images OF COURSE. The answer is simple, time. I give them time to get to know me, time to do what they want, time to be the center of attention, time to go play. Within that time there are moments that they comply completely. I have YEARS of toddler experience from my own 3 children and years of family and newborn photography. Check out this session with 2 under 2.

When should I book? Generally photographer’s like that first 2 weeks after birth when babies are sleepy and still have that snuggly newborn position naturally. So it is important to book your photographer a few months prior, especially if you are due in the Fall/Spring when photography season is at it’s height. With that said, some parent’s didn’t expect to want newborn photography until baby is here… that’s ok. I have photographed newborns that are 2 months old too. Reach out, it’s something you can’t get back and I will try my best to find a date for you.

What if my house doesn’t have good lighting? My house is cluttered. Or the opposite- What if we just moved in? There are so many options. I can bring lighting with me. We can do most of the work in one cleaned up room/corner. Or we can use a nearby studio flooding with natural light- just show up. This is a just a detail we can easily discuss and work out a plan.
