I 1000% agree the best camera is the one you have with you. Having a cell phone in our pocket is great for getting all those everyday moments. And they have come a long way BUT here are my top reasons why they aren’t everything and professional photography is a must.
1. Getting mom in the frame. Sure selfies, timers and getting someone to take an image of everyone works but it’s not the same as a photographer’s eye and experience. Just fixing everyone and creating a polished pose or more so, directing a scene that isn’t just CHEESE. I know when I look back at my professional images I love the ‘candid’ ones. Candid being my photographer used a prompt and directed us to get some real emotion of me with my family. Mom’s are usually taking the images but we should be in them too!

2. Making it an appointment. Cells phones are perfect for the everyday. But making a point to put something on the calendar and dress the way you want just makes it better. It’s like a family date night, we have fun doing silly and cuddly things and then go get some ice cream or dinner together. My family truly enjoy their time together just playing – no screens. Just cute clothes. It’s just become our annual family date night- that makes AMAZING art of our walls, holiday cards and updated artistic images of our children. (Sorry not one for the school picture being framed- HA)

3. Details. Professional lens just have better clarity. Photographers enhance coloring. High Resolution. Blah Blah Blah. Seriously though, my goal is to capture connection. Freeze your children just how they are- get those freckles, baseball lovers, excitement, that curl in her hair, that smirk he has, the flecks in her eyes, the smile he makes looking at you. I want you to have all these details forever. Clear and up close.

And these are just some highlights from our fun summer evening in Roswell together.
Booking a professional photographer is an investment. One that even I have never regretted. Let go, have fun with your family- I’ll document it.
