As a local photographer, I do most family sessions in East Cobb, Marietta and Roswell. This is where the majority of my clients come from. So here are my top places in Roswell for photo sessions. Roswell does require professional photographers to be permitted, as I am.
Old Mill Park. This is probably one of the most well known places. You have the Old Mill brick building with black shutters, a covered bridge, a waterfall and walkways. It’s like a postcard! It even has public restrooms, which is a big deal- as opposed to more remote locations. This site can get pretty busy, but there are many other options nearby.
Leita Thompson Park. This park offers wooded trails, great for fall foliage. Down the trail is pond. Long grass is on one side and fountain on the other. There is a dog park, if you decide to bring your four-legged companion.
Garrard Landing Park. This might be one of my favorite places. It offers a covered bridge, a stream perfect for little ones, tall grass, greenery, pathways and a pond! Next door is a playground. Facilities can be a little bit of a walk but I carry a pop-up tent for easy changing if need be. I love this location for maternity sessions, couples, family, and senior sessions.
Roswell’s Mansions. I am going to group these next three southern-charmers together; Bulloch Hall, Barrington Hall and Smith Plantation. Each have unique looks and offer plenty of backdrops for portraits- think southern porches and stately gardens. Please note, I am required to make a reservation. So please schedule early, if this is the location you desire.
Canton Street. Take a stroll with me down Canton Street one morning. This area is well known for it’s old time charm, lined with sidewalk cafes, restaurants and boutiques. Making it a pretty backdrop anytime of the year. Town Square Park, just down the street, makes for a great add-on.
Your Home. Let’s face it, this is where young children are most comfortable. It’s convenient for quick outfit changes. Great option for large family reunions that include seniors. If you just moved in, it makes a great backdrop for holiday cards or ‘New Home Announcements’. It also adds an element of uniqueness and personality. Many HOAs have well kept community spaces or even scenic lakes as an option. Plan a session with a neighbor together and both families will receive a discount.
Any Location Special to your Story. Many of us have a special spot we enjoy. Why not use that location to photograph a milestone? I would love to photograph your family directly ‘there’ if possible. If we need special permission, I can work that out. Permits, I have them. When the location is special, it’s more than just a background—it’s part of your story. Let’s create!
